What is Yoga Therapy?

Although all yoga is potentially therapeutic and healing, yoga therapy is the specific application of yoga tools—postures/exercises, breathwork, meditation techniques, and more—to address an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional needs. Yoga therapists have in-depth training to help them assess and keep clients safe. I work with you to address your specific goals while considering any limitations you might be experiencing.

Many people first learn about yoga through its physical practices, but a common misconception is that it’s all about stretching or movement. In fact, yoga therapy can help people who can’t move at all, as well as active individuals!

The yoga model of health is unique because it addresses every aspect of life rather than considering each body part or system separately. Yoga therapy is a safe way of working with the natural capacity of your body and mind to optimize well-being.

Yoga therapy meets people where they are, connecting them to their own innate healing potential. Yoga therapy clients report experiencing improved mood, decreased stress and chronic pain, and more.

In short, the practice of yoga equips us with a comprehensive toolkit to help support regulation and resilience in the mind-body system. Yoga therapy is the specific use of these tools by a trained practitioner.

About Me

Journey of Holistic Wellness

In 2013, I embarked on my journey as a 200-hour yoga instructor and Level 1 Reiki practitioner. Since then, I have been dedicated to running my private yoga studio. In 2015, I furthered my Reiki practice by achieving Level 2 certification and expanded my yoga education by becoming certified in Yin Yoga, a style that promotes deep stretches into the myofascial and joints with the use of props, allowing for complete muscle relaxation.

My holistic health practice began in 2017 with a focus on Ayurvedic medicine after I received my Holistic Practitioner Certification. I revisited Yin Yoga in 2018, earning another certification. By 2020, I had advanced to a 500-hour instructor, specializing in Kundalini Yoga, Ayurveda, Enneagram, and Lunar Wisdom. My training extended to inner alignment coaching, which I completed in 2021, followed by a trauma healer certification in 2022. In 2024 I became a certified Yoga Therapist through International Association of Yoga Therapist (IAYT).

Inner Alignment Coaching for healing trauma is a multi-layered approach to healing the root cause of anxiety and depression. By addressing trauma where it lives in the six-layered body (Kosha’s), Inner Alignment Coaching offers present moment nervous system tools to help with dysregulation, energetic imbalances, emotional turmoil, negative thoughts, and spiritual disconnection. Once the traumas are made present, the system leans on neuroscience-based principles. We sustain the healing process by wiring the experience into every layer of the body. It will take two months to build the new neural circuitry. We will be using breath work, yoga postures, and Ayurvedic medicine techniques to rewire the brain into healthier thoughts and pathways.

Each month a different Kryia will be taught.

Kryia’s are a specific style of yoga to create a specific result by using breath, mantras, mudras, and body movement.

Yoga 4 You

Central Lake Location (In Person)

Zoom Class

This class is open to all bodies. Focusing on balance work and meditation. 

In person mats, bolsters, blocks, and blankets will be provided if needed. Please arrive 10 minutes early if coming in person.

Gentle Yoga

$5/class
Zoom Only Class

This is a very gentle class for all levels focusing on breath, meditation, and moving through gentle postures.
